Dubai Medical College for Girls celebrates International Women's Day: By Awarding 3 of the Most Prominent Women in the Field of Medicine in UAE

Dubai Medical College for Girls held International Women’s Day on 4th March 2019. It was organized by Community Medicine Department in collaboration with DMCG Student Union. The target audiences were students, staff of DMCG and mothers, in addition to staff of Dubai Pharmacy College for Girls.

Ms. Anita Sunil, Clinical Psychologist at Dubai Foundation for Women and Children was invited to deliver a presentation about “Violence Against Women”. Dr. Azhar Schett, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Prime Medical Hospital, talked about “Cervical Cancer Screening and Prevention”. A presentation on ‘Healthy Lifestyle’ presented by Ayesha Al Zarooni; a first year medical student in DMCG. Dr. Houriya Kazim (First Cancer Breast Surgeon in UAE &Founder of Brest Friends as well as Breast Cancer Foundation in Emirates ; Prof. Rafia Ghubash (Founder of Women Museum in UAE; the first of its kind in Arab Region & First Qualified Psychiatrist in the UAE) and Prof. Mona Al Rukhaimi (First Female Nephrologist and Internist in UAE & President of Emirates Medical Association Nephrology) were invited to an awarding ceremony. This was a great opportunity to give the students a role model they can follow.
