Monash University Delegation Visits Dubai Medical College for Girls (Dubai Medical University) to Strengthen Academic Collaboration
Dubai, January 2025 – A delegation from Monash University, led by Professor Craig Jeffrey, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International) and Senior Vice-President, and Dr. Nizar Farjou, Associate President - Middle East, North Africa & Central Asia - Global Engagement, visited Dubai Medical College for Girls (DMCG) as part of their strategic engagement with key institutions in the UAE.
During their visit, the delegation met with the Dean Prof. Yousif Eltayeb, Acting Associate Dean of Research Dr. Shifan Khanday, Prof. AbdelMoniem Elmardi Acting associate dean of academic affairs and Eng Hessa Lootah AI and Innovation lead at Saeed Ahmad Lootah Charity Foundation (SALCF) to discuss potential avenues for academic collaboration under Monash University’s Anchoring Strategy. This initiative aims to identify Anchor Collaborators and Anchor Missions, prioritizing international partnerships through long-term capacity building and trust.
The meeting focused on key areas such as:
- Joint research initiatives in medical education, AI in healthcare, and precision medicine.
- Student and faculty exchange programs to promote knowledge sharing.
- Integration of AI in medical education through Monash and DMCG’s shared expertise.
- Opportunities for collaborative degree programs and training workshops.
Speaking about the visit, Dr. Nizar Farjou stated:
"Our discussions with DMCG reflect Monash University’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships. We are excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to building a sustainable and impactful collaboration."
