DMCG participates in EmiratesMEDs

UAE unveiled EmiratesMEDs UAE Competency Framework for Medical Education at the UAE University, Al Ain on 16th Feb. 2023.  Prof. Yousif ElTayeb, Dean of DMCG endorsed the framework in the presence of H.E. Prof. Ghaleb Al Breiki, UAEU Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Yusuf Baniyas, Director of CAA, Deans of all medical schools and other dignitaries. 
 
Dr. Fouzia Shersad, Head of Medical Education, represented DMCG in the scientific committee comprised of members from all medical colleges and Health authorities of UAE. The scientific committee developed the framework with nine competencies and fourteen EPAs after extensive benchmarking and needs analysis over the last two years. This initiative was led by the CAA, UAEU, NIHS, healthcare authorities and community leaders. The aim of the scientific committee was to create a framework that is tailored for the UAE and at the same time is on par with the best in the world. The framework has been endorsed by deans of all medical schools in the UAE.
 
The EmiratesMEDs competency framework is a major step whereby UAE has its own Competency framework comparable with other international frameworks such as CanMEDS, Tomorrow’s Doctors, ACGME and SaudiMEDs.  Launching this framework is a major milestone on the UAE's path to becoming a global leader in medical education. We are glad to be part of this history and hope to be active in implementing these competencies and EPAs.
